I'm currently a 3rd year and I'm interested in applying for optometry school for 2012. My GPA is about 3.0 right now and I havent taken the OAT yet. I was hoping to study really hard for the OAT in the summer and take it in september. Is it better that I apply early without taking the OAT or wait and hopefully do well on the OAT and then apply?

i would take the oat and decide if you want to apply depending on your results. If your OAT scores aren't too great it may be better to focus on improving your gpa and beefing up your resume and then retake the OAT.

Apply early. You do not need to have your OAT taken in order to submit your application. It is a general rule of thumb with rolling admissions that the sooner you apply the better off you are.

Some schools may contact you before you send in your OAT scores, but others will not consider your application complete until everything is received. Use the time to fill out the secondary applications.

Most of your questions could be directed to the schools, they're more than happy to answer your questions and some schools such as SCO and IWSO keep track of who they have been communicating with.
