Apply for 2012 while waitlisted for 2011?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Should I resend my AMCAS in June for the 2012 cycle while I'm still on a waitlist?

Yes, start preparing. Data is not sent to the schools until June 17th, so just fill out the information and complete the application for 1 school by like June 13th . If you haven't heard back from waitlists by June 20th, there is only a slim chance left. On the bright side, you will be applying very early and you should have lots of experience.

I second this. Waitlists can move as late as August, but you shouldn't be banking on that. Having the best application you can put together at an early point in the season is a great way to start, though! 😀

I've been told that you should wait a year to reapply that way you can make significant changes (improvements) to your app...

Depends on what went wrong. Thread starter is on at least 1 wait list, which for many schools means "We wish we had room to accept you". If he was not an acceptable candidate he would be rejected. If he had not received any interviews I might agree with you, but if he got wait listed this year he has a good chance to be accepted next.

I think most applicants should continue their ec's during the application season just in case they get rejected everywhere and want to apply right away again...
