hello everyone,

Here is my situation:

I got a F in biochem last semester. I am retaking it this summer and the class ends in June 26 (then i have to wait about a week for the new grade appears on my transcript).

Should I wait until I get my biochem grade and apply

OR should I apply first week of June and send my summer transcript to Dental schools?

1 Class isn't going to make a dent in your application. Apply early June, then when your grade comes out, call the schools individually and see if they'll make a note of it on your app.

so u dont have to wait until academic update in Nov. ?

I am taking 3 summer courses, 3 of them count in my sci. gpa and 1 in BCP gpa. these courses finish on July 22, can i then call up the schools and send them my updated application ?

If you know you are going to do better this time around, I would wait to apply at the end of june. you will be fine if your application is complete the first part of July. Most schools dont even start doing stuff with the applications until august anyways.

My guess is that they will just tell you to wait for the academic update to come around.

id say apply when all 3 of your summer classes end if you think youll do well in them
I mean, July isnt THAT late.....its probably considered more early than "late".
& you cannot academic update until november, im sure you could send them update "emails" after your class is done but like.....theyre going to be so swamped with incoming apps as it is....i dunno

I dunno how the schools will respond to the calls/emails.... Its worth a try I guess.

But in the OP's case, since its just 1 class, its meaningless for him to postpone his entire application. And even in your case, I wouldn't wait that that long. July 22nd submission means aadsas will use up another 2-3 weeks verifying (they say 4-6 weeks, but they tend to finish quicker). So your "improved" application won't be sent out till mid-to-late August. August isn't late, but it sure ain't early either.

I would say apply after your biochem grades are in.. that is not late at all.. starting August and on will be considered late. This way an A on Biochem will bring your sGPA to 3.4ish. Keep in mind that Biochem is a crucial course and they will Question your F regardless. GL

I think you should apply after you take the summer biochem class and it comes in...I applied July 10th and the application was approved and sent out July 30th

Whoops, I confused your and Kobebucsfan's dates.

For you (wizi), it won't matter, Early June vs late June = still early either way. IMO, its okay to wait till biochem grades is out

For Kobebucsfan, its different, cause his summer term ends in Late July.
