I had been gearing up to apply to an MD program, but decided it was not for me. Now, I'm wondering if I have time to apply for this year's fall cycle for podiatry. 3.29 sGPA, 36 MCAT (old MCAT), couple years of emergency room scribe experience along with assorted research and shadowing during college (graduated 2014). Should I just go for it, or play it safe and wait a cycle?

Forgot to mention that I'm setting up some podiatry shadowing experiences right now as well.

Also, related to this, since I was originally thinking about going MD, my rec letters reflect an application to an MD school. Is it worth asking my letter writers to change this (as in change it to as if they are writing for podiatry school), or am I fine leaving it as is?

Thanks for any help.

As I said in the other thread, you can still apply. Your stats are very competitive and you will be accepted to any of the 9 schools. A few schools are already full and you will need to decide whether or not you would like to go to a school with a larger class size. As for your letters of rec, I would use what you have and get your app in ASAP.

With those stats I'd still apply this cycle. As long as you get the pod shadowing done asap, you should get in somewhere. I used to have MD letters too, I just had my letter writers change the wording from "medical school" to "podiatry school". It should be an easy fix
