Hey guys I applied to a bunch of MD shools and now I wish I would have applied to DO also. I was debating on applying to Chicago Osteopathic since the deadline is Jan 1. Should I apply now or is it really late.

you should apply now.

Blah you applied to MD and then when you ddint' get immediate interviews you realized you should use DO as your safeties, right?

I guess many people do this, but make sure you realize that DO ISN'T LESSER, necause adcoms will sniff out this attitude in your interview if you have it.

If you honestly are interested in DO then best of luck and let me know if there's any questions you have. You MUST get the AACOMAS app in now! Get a DO LOR as well and have him send it to your letter service or to each school immediately.

That is all.

This subject is a constant debate on SDN. I personally think it is too late, but other people do not. Keep in mind that AACOMAS takes 4-6 weeks to process your primary and send it out. That is, if they have your transcripts. Then the schools get your primary and send you secondaries. My experience has been that this can take anywhere from one to several weeks. Then you have to send the secondary and LORs. Then they have to process that and hopefully interview you. They probably will get a little behind now because of the holidays too. Schools already have January and maybe even some February interviews scheduled now. I have heard of a lot of people who are otherwise strong applicants who did not get accepted because they applied late. If you are only planning on CCOM, then you won't be spending THAT much. I just wouldn't invest too much at this point. Of course, you won't get in if you don't apply. Just make sure you know enough about osteopathic medicine so they don't think you are applying because you couldn't get into an MD school. DO schools hate that! LOL! Good luck with whatever you decide!:luck:
