What consequences will I get if I apply to both scholarships?

I already submitted my application for review for the National Health Services Corps and am waiting to see the results. All the people who get selected will be notified by the end of September.

Now, I am starting to apply for a three year Health Professional scholarship with the military. I will be submitting my application at the end of May. I have no idea when the results for this will be in.

If I am selected by both programs....and I turn one of them down, will I get a monetary penalty of any sort? I truly believe I would enjoy serving for underserved communities (NHSC) AND the military (HPSP) since I enjoy volunteering with diverse groups of ppl, especially veterans.

If by luck I get selected for both programs and had to choose one though, I would choose the military... But what would happen to me when I turn down the NHSC? Or if I change my mind and I turn down the HPSP?

THANK you for your help guys! This has been worrying me since I started the scholarship applications. I think both scholarship programs are amazing and would be grateful to be in any. I just want to make sure I will be okay applying to them.

There isn't any penalty for turning one down. A classmate received the HPSP from the air force and also the NHSC scholarship and he chose air force. There are plenty of people to accept if you turn it down

I think it is smart to apply to both as the NHSC is much more competitive and there are fewer scholarships for that.
