Hi everyone,
how's december going? hope everyone had a successful semester. I am now applying to some programs over the summer but i have no research experience for some. should I still apply there or it's just a waste of time😕????
Thanks everyone and happy Holidays!!!!!!!!🙂

Well, the point of many of the programs is to give people, who never had the opportunity to get research experience, research experience.

I did the UCSF SRTP with only one semester of research experience. That was a very talented bunch of kids too. I plan to apply to a bunch this semester too.

+1 Check out the NSF REUs (National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates).

I did 2 REUS and didn't have any prior research experiences.

Your biggest problem is going to be applying "without no" correct grammar.

hahaha...ouch

OP, I'd definitely apply, you gotta start somewhere, the best place is a summer program where you could dedicate much time into the project.

Apply! These programs are designed for students who haven't had the opportunity to do research. I did one at Princeton a few years ago, and met some great people. Use it as a stepping stone, though.

Even if you have no research experience, you might still be able to milk something from your lab experiences (e.g., Western blot, microarray, PCR) or other experiences (e.g., experience working with people for clinical research). You may have to volunteer in your first research job though. It never hurts to try and apply - worst case scenario is that nothing changes.

Gotta start somewhere

Just talk about your lab skills from your classes, and apply to five or six. There are some good websites with all of the surf programs.
