Does anyone have a list of schools that take 4 year old MCAT scores? I know it's in MSAR, but I don't have it with me right now. Also, are there some schools that will consider an old MCAT if you contact them before you submit? I would imagine AMCAS has a way of screening out people with older scores for schools that don't take them.

i hope your score was good cause you will have to cut your list of schools big time

I applied this year with a 2 year old MCAT (April 05) and have had a couple of problems. A few schools want the scores to be less than 3 years old from the date of matriculation. Kentucky has told me that my score is too old, but they will bring it to a vote as to whether they should accept my score.

I would suggest retaking it. You'll have a lot of problems at most schools, in my opinion.

Applied in 2005 with a 2001 MCAT for matriculation in 2006. I was lucky since all of my state schools (except Texas Tech) accepted MCATs that old and they were all on the TMDSAS system.

I didn't apply there, but Baylor College of Medicine is one AMCAS school that accepted MCAT scores that old. I think UNC is another one, but they rarely take out-of-staters anyway.

I assume none of that has changed the past 2 years.

I agree. I also took the april mcat and have already received subsequent letters of rejection based on the age of the score. I believe most programs date the score from the reference of application year, not matriculation year, but it sucks to find out the hard way by losing the 50 or so bucks post-secondary. I believe Case Western accepts scores up to four years old. Beyond that you'd be hard pressed to find more than one or two more that fall into this category. I'd register to take the exam in Jan. That way schools might still consider you pending the new score in Jan. Not all schools do this, but some will allow an '08 score for the '08 class if you took the mcat previously. Regardless, even if the situtation turns sour, you'll still have a fresh mcat for next application cycle. Good Luck!

3 years is the traditional valid span for an MCAT. Schools will still see your old score, but the majority of them will not consider it. You're going to have to do some serious hunting to find a school that will take a 4 year old score... If you don't already have the MSAR, I'd find one ASAP (and consider re-taking if you want a serious chance)

This was my understanding as well. I was actually surprised to read the above posts about schools that took scores older than 3.
