Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if it will be possible for me to apply to med schools with PR status (as I have just received it), and not specifying a home state (as I have not moved the States yet).

Thanks.

PR = permanent resident?
Home state = state residency? (A state you can get instate admission and tuition in)

Assuming every thing else works out (you satisfy the 90+ credit hours from a US institution rule that some schools have, etc), not have a state residency shouldn't keep you from applying. Some people move and have no residency when they apply if they lose resident status in their old state but don't satisfy residency standards in their new states (like my sister who lives in MA, if she applies to a school now she would have to pay out of state tuition matter where). Not having a mailing address in the US might create some logistical problems, especially if you live somewhere that has a notoriously unreliable mail system. (side note: I worked in an admissions office once and got a call from a lady in India thanking us for accepting her daughter but that it was 5years too late, lol).

Yeah. So I will be able to apply to all schools that accept applicants with PR status, just that I won't get in-state tuition anywhere right?

You should be able to apply to all schools, I haven't seen a school yet that differentiates between permanent residents and citizens.

If you run across one, let me know.
