Hello All,

I have a problem. I wanted to take physics 1 and 2 and orgo 1 and 2 over the summer and do the labs in the fall. I thought this would be a bit much for the summer sessions so I thought maybe I could take orgo 1 first session and physics 1 the second session giving me the fall to take the second halves as I am pretty sure my school offers both 1 and 2 of most science classes each semester, in case you get out of sink. I found out though that the first summer session only offers physics 1 and orgo 1 and the second, only orgo 2 and physics 2. I dont think I can even do them at the same time because of schedule conflicts leaving me the spring of '09 to complete them.

I had originally planned to take the MCAT in January '09 and apply to Ross for their May semester. If I do this though, I might still be in either orgo 2 or physics 2(unless I can pull off some fancy scheduling). I heard of schools letting you apply and whatnot if you have classes pending but being that I want to apply for the May semester at Ross, that might be cutting it a little close.

I might be able to take phyics 2 over the winter session at my school. Is that something that people do? That will be right through the time I will have to take my MCAT tho.

I am in kind of a rush to get started with school, if you havent noticed but might have to cool it on that if I cant get this straightened out.

THANKS EVERYONE!

My best advice for you would be to call all the schools that you are interested in applying to so you can get specifics.

However I think that the courses have to be completed upon matriculation.

Physics 1 and 2 plus Orgo 1 and 2 over the summer thats a lot of classes in the summer. Physics 1 is a prereq for Physics 2 and same with Orgo 1 and 2. Even if some how the school you are going to let you take all the classes at the same time, it will be really hard no doubt.

Good luck to yaa, I don't recommend taking all the classes in the summer/ fall.

I think I can do it. The physics lecture overlaps with orgo by 15 minutes, but they are both long lectures. I have a friend who is going to take orgo, I can look at her notes for the first few minutes of class. The school should let me do it, I think I can petition for it, especially since I have been doing well in my first pre-reqs.

I really want to get them done asap. Has anyone heard of someone doing this before? Im sure its been done. How hard could it be, just two science classes at a time, the summer sessions not that much shorter than a regular one.

Thanks!

I would pace myself however, but if you feel that you can handle it the go for it.

So you don't need physics 1 to get into phy 2 and orgo 1 as a prereq for orgo 2...

Wow thats really strange. I guess you have taken phy1 and orgo1 with low grade and now you are repeating everything at once to get a good grade.

I'm surprised if they let you take all the classes at once with out prereqs. If you think you can do it and then go ahead.

NO---PREREQS strange school. But any way good luck to yaa.

Oh no...I would take orgo 1 and physics 1 first summer session, and then in the second summer session orgo 2 and physics 2. Ive never taken them before.

My situation is like this...

I graduated from Cornell 2 years ago with a low gpa, ~2.5. Last semester I had a 3.8 in bio and chem 1 and I figure I should be able to repeat that for the rest of my pre-reqs. I realize that with my low gpa that getting into an american or DO school will take a lot of time of gpa boosting that I dont really want to do. I want to go to the caribbean, specifically Ross as soon as I can, since I may wind up having to go there anyway (no guarantees for a US MD or DO school).

Does anyone know if a 2.8/2.9 gpa with a MCAT score of say...28-32, will be good enough to get into a May semester at Ross? I have a good app otherwise.

THANKS!

You may get suggested to their MERP program based on your low GPA. Check out the ross website and see when they are having an info session near your hometown.

Where is the MERP program held/completed? How long is it etc...isnt it a pre-med program?

I never took any of my pre-med courses. Would I still have to complete these courses I am taking now if I get put into the MERP program?

Thanks!
