I just want to figure out how big of a deal this is. Assuming you have a good app in all aspects, but you submitted at 3 weeks, how big of a deal is this? Is this something to get rejected on? I can see how it may give a tiny seed of doubt in adcoms if they really want to go to their school, but the advice on here seems like you absolutely need to get it in by 2 weeks. Any MD medical students that were accepted after post 2 week submission feel free to chime in. I ask bcuz I got a late start, so most of my apps will be submitted ~3 weeks after I got the email.

For those in the same boat as me, here’s what I think: it’s not a big deal. If it was, the school would have been like UCLA and out right said you have 2 weeks to do this. Even every other school I applied to didn’t have the “we recommend you submit in 2 weeks”

if a school recommends you submit in 2 weeks its probably a good idea to stick to that. i submitted my primary like the first day and got my secondaries in july. I had a personal issue and didnt end up submitting any of my secondaries until early October

What I’m saying is that none of the ~25 secondaries I have rn day anywhere that they “recommend 2 weeks”. Some with rolling admissions say it’s beneficial to submit ASAP, but don’t give a number. Also did you explicitly state the personal issue on your secondary as an excuse for late submission? And did you get any interviews

For the school I will be attending, I submitted my secondary 27 days after receiving it (and the day before Labor Day). Received the II a month later. Obviously, do your best to submit quality secondaries as soon as you can, but unless the school has a hard 2-week deadline (or even explicitly “recommends” that timing), then don’t stress too much about it (assuming it’s still before/around Labor Day).
