Hey everyone,

I've searched the forums and haven't come up with anything very helpful on the topic, but I hear that it is very important to submit your application as early as possible (June 1st). How big of a difference would say, a few days vs. a week vs. a month make in terms of decreasing your chances?

I hope I'm not coming off as neurotic asking this question - I'm just trying to maximize my chance of getting into any medical school. I'm still not happy with my personal statement, and I was considering taking a week or possibly even two weeks to get some more edits/criticism before submitting it. Thanks in advance everyone!

there is no difference between submitting june 1 or june 20. both are probably going to be verified at around the same time. u dont have to be that neurotic.

gl bra

and if you really wanna shine em on say 'hasta la vista baby'

As said by someone else, "hurry, but don't rush". You want to make sure you get it in relatively early, but not so that you sacrifice the quality of your work. Make sure its the best you can make it before you submit.

For more info, just search.

The Cubs don't seem to be in a rush to win a World Series, either.

I'm sorry, that was uncalled for.

Hijacking the thread... I was just wondering if you guys suggest waiting a couple of days to submit after June 1rst? I have everything ready but I read somewhere that there are a lot of glitches on the first day so I was just wondering if I should wait or submit right then? thanks!

No application is sent out to any school until after a specified date in late June (last year it was June 25). As verification is likely to take less than 10 days this early in the cycle, submitting the application all the way up to June 15 is essentially the same as submitting on June 1.

Data is sent to medical schools on June 17th this year. It can take up to 10 days to verify your app so act accordingly.

I heard a rumor that if your application is #1, auto acceptance everywhere. Yea bro, its that important

auto acceptance.. what a beautiful combination of two words

lol auto acceptance is true...BS/MD and BS/DO applicants...

Anyways, so it doesn't even matter if I submit in June right? Because my mcat is in july

I have from a good source that an adcom member waits impatiently in front of their computer as the clock strikes down midnight of June 1st, repeatedly hitting Ctrl+R on their keyboard to find the first person who has submitted their application. This person is automatically accepted the following June 1st with a full scholarship.

The caveat is that it used to be only one or two schools doing this... but now every top 20 medical school does this. Now since obviously it'd be unfair if the first person to submit their application on June 1st was accepted to every top 20 medical school, the schools take their pick based on an internalized ranking. That is, the top-ranking school takes the 1st submitter, the second-ranking takes the 2nd submitter, etc. It took me a lot of work, but I went through the trouble of finding this ranking for you. Here it is. You're welcome.

Good luck in your endeavor, my friend! As you can see, I was the 2nd person to submit my app... but with this information, you can surpass them all!

ROFL but your formula uses the primary care rankings, which nobody else cares about? lol

Don't they also do this for the very last person each year?

I heard that, so I'm going for it. Have fun with the rat race, everyone else! I don't even need to take the MCAT!

They'd save a lot of effort by pressing F5 -- it's one key rather than two. Stupid adcoms.
