Hey all,

I didn't score as well as I would have liked on my MCAT (only got a 28N), but I figured by applying early I would increase my chances of getting an MD acceptance (I figure I've got a very good shot at DO with a 28 MCAT and 3.87 gpa). However, I was in Costa Rica for the month of May, so I was unable to work on my AMCAS. Then, when I came back, I was able to fill out my AMCAS and AACOMCAS, but when I requested my transcripts (sent out the day I got back on June 2nd), I just found out that my school is not honoring my request for transcripts because apparently I have an outstanding balance at my school, which I can't get taken care of until Monday. At this rate, my transcripts probably won't be received by AMCAS and AACOMCAS until a week or two (probably like June 22nd or so). Will I still receive some benefit from applying early, or will that take too long to be verified to be considered to be applying early? Thanks

So, let's say you get verified by August 1st--secondaries completed by August 10th-- you can interview by Nov. 15th easily. This is when acceptances are offered.

My advisors who combined have over 70 years of experience say that submitting your application by Sept 1st is early enough. He truly hates this site and claims that adcoms are busy being MDs and PhDs.

You'll be early enough.

I think the date is October 15th, not November 15th. Keep in mind that if you're complete by Sept. 1st, it doesn't mean that they're going to look at your application on Sept. 2nd.

To the OP, I don't think you're at a disadvantage yet. It's still very early. Just get them in as soon as you can and hope for a quick verification so you can work on secondaries in July.
