I am an undergrad in my first semester of my senior year. I'm nontraditional as I had to take time off during my undergrad for medical reasons.
My GPA is currently 3.45 and projected to be higher (I'm doing super well this semester.) My MCAT was only 502. I have 126 hours of non-healthcare volunteer hours. I have 48 hours of ambulance driving volunteer hours and growing. I have experience working hands on with patients. I am a B-EMT trainee.
My school does not have a lot of research opportunities for the sciences. Almost all of the money goes into technology. This semester is the first time I've had the privilege to participate in any research. I'm about to start writing the abstract for one publication (but it won't be published for another five years because of the length of the project.) I'm going to begin working with another professor for a genetics research opportunity.
I'm currently working on secondaries for schools. A lot of them want two "research mentor" letters. I don't feel comfortable asking my newest mentor for a letter since we haven't started working together yet. I'm not sure how to explain that I'm currently working on things and that there isn't a lot to say yet.
