Hi guys,

I'm applying for the NIH post bacc program and I would greatly welcome any suggestions on PIs to contact. I know that a lot of the experience depends on the PI, so any insight would be greatly valued. I'm specifically interested in studying cancer using molecular biology techniques, but I am also interested in translational research / clinical applications.

Thanks!! 🙂 🙂

I applied last year and never got accepted to any labs, but my advice would be to get on the PCR (or w/e it’s officially called) mailing list through Yahoo and start watching for people to post openings- literally check it every day as positions filled within hours sometimes. Often it seemed like the post-bacc student would just make a posting and then interview people and pick one. Also, I would say to start contacting PI's January 2nd. It seemed to be two waves of acceptances, those that contacted PI's super early and then those that waited 'till April.
