Hi,

Currently I'm doing my PGY-1 Prelim Internal Medicine for 2008-2009. I have interest in PGY-2 IM Categorical and Neurology for 2009-2010.

1. Is FindAResident the only place to apply for PGY-2 Categorical IM/Neurology?
2. Is there anything I can apply at MyERAS for 2009-2010 for PGY-2?

TIA

#2 is the easy question: Not really. Most of the neuro spots are PGY2 to start 2010. There are some neuro PGY-1 programs -- they include a prelim year in the match, so I guess you could apply to those programs, and then you'd get to repeat your PGY-1 (which really is no better, if not worse, than matching to neuro in 2010 and completing an IM PGY-2). There is always the chance that when you are interviewing, the program will actually have an "off cycle" open spot for 2009. IN that case, they might offer it to you outside of the match.

#1 is hard. There is no one place for PGY-2 IM or Neuro openings. It's mostly hard work -- calling around and contacting individual programs. If your PD is willing to help, that sometimes makes things work more smoothly.
