Hello,
I am a soon to be intern in nyc. NY does not require any type of medical license to practice as a resident. Though i will likely stay in new york after residency, I'd rather not pay the fee to apply if I don't have to. However, NY requires an application on file in order to take step 3.
I have heard that people can simply apply for step 3 through a different state such as florida that doesnt have any requirements at all to take the step 3. Then toward the end of residency when Im more certain where I will be practicing I can apply for a license there having my step 3 and pgy req's already completed.
How true is that? It seems kind of strange to apply through a different state by a technicality/loophole. Does that really have no affect on state licensure down the road?
Thanks for the help guys!
