hi
i am primarily interested in OB gyn .however to be on the safe side i am considering applying to a few FP programs also.
can one PD find out that i have applied to another program in the same hospital?will there be a common committee that will see my name on both charts and will this hamper my chances at both places 😕

I dont know if there is a common committee as you describe it...but I doubt it since selection committees are department-specific. However, I do think that more likely than not a program director will find out that you have also applied to another program within the same institution. I would tread lightly in this area as you may appear unsure or wishy-washy on your decision to pursue one or both careers.

The only way they'll find out is at the conclusion of the match. All program directors have access to see where their applicants matched including which field. Also keep in mind simple coincidences such as seeing someone from that department while you're getting a tour or matching into that institution and having to work there. If FP is your back up, there are a gizzillion programs, my 2 cents worth would be to tell you to not apply to a same institution if you really do not have to.

Good luck!
