I recently decided to go for dentistry school, but will have no experience and will not be able to gather everything that I need for the application as of the moment. I noticed that quite a few schools have a Feb.1 deadline. I know the importance of applying early, but would my chances of getting in be close to nil if I apply in January? I'm definitely applying next year, but I'm just not sure if I should apply this year on the deadline.

Have any of you guys(or anyone that you know) applied at the deadline and got accepted?

It would probably be a waste of money. You will need to supplement your application with dental experience in order to show that you are truly interested in the field and you won't be able to do that in a semester...atleast not enough to get you in that late...

my 2 cents anyways

feb 1 would be an extremely bad idea. just apply next year with good credentials. no need to rush it. the dental schools will take applicants next year.

yea waste of $$. By then they have already given out all of their acceptances i think

Not worth the stress or money, wait until May 15th next year and be one of the first for next years cycle. You don't need to rush it.

Personally I am going to have to agree with what the previous posters stated. Not only is it crucial to apply as early as possible but also remember that certain application procedures through AADSAS take quite a bit of time to send out to designated schools. Again its better not to rush. Get your experience in and organize your application and DAT exam.

I have friends that applied quite late in previous the cycles and have been accepted but they had exceptional stats and even they addmitted it was quite a long shot to be accepted. Good luck.

just wait til the next cycle, that way you can be the first to get your app in and get interviews before everyone else 👍

the only way applying this late will work is if you have a
GPA 4.0
DAT 30/30/30
and were too busy setting up a dental clinic in a 3rd world country and didnt have access to the internet.

or your dad writes the school a nice 6 figure check as a "donation."

Also consider if you apply this year and next you have to better your app somehow, and consdering they are so close together you don't want that added stress. If you can, do it once and do it right.
