Applying late in the game - thoughts on schools?

Hey, I just wrote my DAT last week so I'll be submitting my app this week. Since it'll probably be finalized by mid-August, any thoughts regarding what schools I still have a chance with? Here are my stats:

- Canadian applicant
- 3.89 s/oGPA
- 22 AA, 21 TS, 24 RC, 19 PAT

I don't get it. With such a great board of stats like yours, you should apply to the dental schools in your own nation. Why bother with the US dental schools?

Because there are only a handful of Canadian dental schools and they're all uber competitive.

You're definitely a competitive applicant, but now by August there will be many similarly-qualified people ahead of you in line. Hurry and get your apps out as soon as you can!

Dude don't sweat it. I don't advocate procrastinating but I applied with stats very similar to yours last year. I took the dat the end of August and by the time my transcripts were verified and secondaries submitted it was the middle of October. I was worried, like you, and assumed it was too late. I decided to apply only to my top four schools because, what the heck, I didn't have anything to lose. I may have just gotten lucky but I interviewed at three of those schools, all post jan. 1st and was accepted to two. The point in me telling this story isnt to brag but hopefully save you from the mental agony I put myself through. Your stats look great, relax when you interview, and enjoy the airplane food. Don't freak out......you are still in good standing. Assuming you get all your letters in on time when you officially finish/submit your app within a couple weeks, you may get some pre-December interviews and/or some around Dec/Jan. There are still many many seats out there around this time.
