Applying to Colombia this late in the cycle?

Hey some of you might think I'm crazy but would applying to columbia this late in the cycle be absolutely crazy and a waste of time? Here is my line of thinking..
First off, I have been accepted to UD mercy, Penn, and UConn. I have been rejected from UofMichigan which is my state school. (still shocked about this cuz I thought my interview went really well.. plus mom is alum).

Early in this whole app process, I applied to Michigan and mostly out of staters that either could get in state tuition after the first year or privates that give scholarships ex- Penn. but now that i have been rejected from michigan and accepted to penn without scholarship, Uconn is my only fairly cheap alternative and while I like their program I'm not completely sold on it. And I liked Penn a lot, but not sure whether I liked it enough to pay 95K/year.

So now I thought what would it hurt to apply to columbia and see if I got an interview and possibly really liked the program since its not quite as much as Penn and I could possibly like it more. What do you guys think?

I am not sure how much seat is available but from what I hear from SDN, it is pretty late in the game. But why not? Wouldn't it be better to try and see? I think it is better than saying "what if" later on.

by the way, how did UMich notify you of rejection? Sorry to bring it up but I was just curious.

Go ahead apply for Columbia. They interview people after Dec. 1st, and you also have a good DAT score which they like to see.

It's like another 160 dollars? I guess it's a worth investment. Who knows? You might like them, they might like you.

OMG.. Michigan rejected you? with your stats? that's nonsense.....

I think you should definitely apply to columbia so that you will not regret it in the future.

By the way, how did michigan notify you for rejection??

I emailed them basically asking if more acceptances will be given out in the next few days or if they are done for a while.. I was curious because I have deposits to put down.

she (patti) emailed me back saying i will not be recieving an acceptance to the university of michigan and will receive an official email in about a week. not even waitlisted.. flat out rejected. it blew my mind

Thank you for the info but that is outrageous that they rejected you with your stats. That is pretty damn good DAT score. You should definitely apply to Columbia
