HI-

I'm applying to DO school this year and my plan is to work on improving my GPA in my senior year. I'm planning on taking 45 credit hours of upper division science courses. Unfortunately I was in humanities so I didn't get to take as many science classes as I wished so I'm doing my own informal program because I don't have time to do another major. If I do well in these classes and do well on the MCAT could this help me overcome bad grades I've had in the past? My transcript is scattered with many C's, three D's and one F. = ( I spent so much time working on building up an organization that I started that I lost focus and didn't put in the time and effort to try to succeed in my premed classes. How do DO schools look at students that have repeated classes because I am repeating a lot of classes (I repeated my first year of Gen Chem, I will also be repeating 1 quarter of Calc, 1 quarter of physics, and 1 quarter of Ochem lecture). I am taking a lot of upper level classes that I plan on putting all my effort into and just trying to stay hopeful. Could a high mcat help or is there no hope for me??

there is definately hope...retake all the classes you got a D or F in ...definately...and if that doesnt get you to above a 3.2..retake some C -classes too...if you do this..and get ur mcat above a 26..you have a very good shot ..best of luck

What he said. Just retake every single class you did horribly in and think you'll definitely do better this time around. AACOMAS will only consider your most recent attempt when calculating your GPA. It might take time to pull it up but you can do it. Good luck.

Don't give up hope. As said above re-take some classes and DO schools will give you a second chance.
