Hello everyone,

I would like to apply to dental school this coming application cycle which should open on June 1st, I plan on taking my DAT around mid- June. Is it a good idea to wait till i receive my score before i apply or wait till the next application cycle in order to have more opportunities to take the DAT? My current GPA is 3.26, so i know that i need a great DAT score in order to be considered competitive for dental school. I would truly appreciate some advice. Thank you in advance

I know someone that did that, didn't take the DAT until August or something and it took until around September for their DAT to get sent in or something like that. I don't think your application is considered complete until you have it in? If you're taking it mid June though and say it gets in July that wouldn't be too bad. I applied late July and just got in.

I took my DAT last August. But I did everything else on the first day the application was open. My application was complete August 18. I was accepted to 2 schools and waitlisted at 2. I applied to 9. 2 denials and 3 still no word (but probably denials at this point.) It takes time for you transcripts to get entered and for your LOR to be sent strt on the day they open. It takes ~10 days for the DAT scores to be uploaded...most will say as long as you are complete by the end of Juy you are still considered an early applicant.

Mid June will probably work. Just get the application in and done by June 2nd. Kill the DAT. Then submit your secondary applications. After that is all done you get to play the waiting game. Panic attacks will occur every time your phone buzzes with a new e-mail.
