Hi!

I'm all new here and also all new to the dental admission process.
If I want to apply for the fall 2007, when can I start applying?
Do I need my DAT score before I send my application to the schools?
Do you think I have a chance to get in a school without having a BS completed?
I only have so far 72 semester hours of course and I am intentding to get a BA in biochemistry.
Does it really matter if I get a BA or BS? The only difference is the research hours...
As an international student, do I have any chance or do I need to be a US citizen or permanent resident as for med schools?
Is it true that NYU prefer in state student although it is a private school?
I heard it was an easier school to get in, do you know any other "easy" schools?
If you have a low GPA, 3.2 and below and my profile, is it just a waste of time to apply to dental schools?
It looks like those who have low GPA all have a degree and pretty tough one or went to grad schools.
My backup is pharmacy school. I got in this year but I don't really know if I want to go.
I guess I don't have a lot of choices....

Help me!

Merci🙂

1). You can apply as early as May, when the application becomes available online through AADSAS.
2). No, you don't need your DAT scores at the time you apply. But you should take them as soon as possible so your application can be complete and ready to be reviewed by the schools.
3). Your chances are much better if you have either a B.S. or B.A. It doesn't matter which one...just get one.
4). Some schools, like UCLA, require citizenship. Others don't care. It depends on the school.
5). If it is a private school then there shold not be any in state preference. There is no such thing as an "easy" dental school. It's very competitive. So if you get in anywhere just be happy.
6). 3.2 gpa is not bad....but that means your DAT needs to be high...like 20+
7). If you already got into Pharmacy school that's something that you shold think about. Do you really want to go through the whole dental application??? No one can answer that question for you. It's a very personal decision. One that only you can make.

Good Luck!

I was thinking about sending out my AADSAS June 1. But my kaplan summer program won't start until the first week of June. therefore, i wont be taking the DAT until late july, early aug. (once the kaplan course ends). would anyone recommend taking the DAT earlier than June 1 and just studying on my own and taking the DAT (so that score will be on my AADSAS app.)then following that DAT up with kaplan course and then taking the DAT again (late july early aug.) unless i get like 20s across the board (doubtful). Please let me know if anyone has advice.
