So I know that this application is going to be on the late side, but I am a junior and have decided after a month of undergrad that I am ready to try to apply to dental school. I am an undergrad at Pitt and am only applying to Pitt. I have my entire application completed and just need to get my letters of recommendation in. I am meeting with my professors this week and should have them all in by then. I also need to get my transcript sent in, but that's about it. Hopefully everything is submitted before Halloween. My DAT scores are:

PAT:25
AA:21
TS:22
Bio:23
Chem:22
Orgo:22
RC:19
QR:21

I have a 3.66 gpa and 3.44 science gpa. I have over 400 hours of shadowing, 75+ hrs community service, and have been conducting research on the ERCC1 gene for 3 semesters and expect to be published by the end of the year. I'm the Vice president of multiple clubs and am a bio TA.

Does anyone have any tips for applying late, or know of something that I might be missing? Also, what do my chances look like? Thanks so much for all of your help.

Pitt is a good school to apply late to - we have a rather late interview cycle, and those who interview after December still have roughly the same chance of getting in as those who interview before December.

I applied in November and got in, but I also did apply to a whole bunch of schools. Applying to one school is a bit risky, because there's always the chance that you could fall through the cracks, but I think your stats are very good for Pitt, especially if you get an interviewer who likes research. Not to say that getting into any dental school is ever a sure shot, but I think you're definitely competitive.

Be sure to get that app in ASAP, and be ready to send your check in as well, possibly even ask if you can walk it in. Good luck!

so if I have my app completed, can I submit it even if all of my letters haven't been electronically sent yet? I have them listed in the letters section, and they said it will be sent out by next week.

Also, if my application is sent in by next week, do I still have a reasonable chance of a pre-Dec interview?

Pre-December? That might be a bit iffy, more likely a post-December interview, but like I mentioned before, for Pitt, that's not a huge difference as it is at most other schools.

Thanks for your help! My AADSAS mailing date is 11/24. Everything has been submitted for a while now including letters but I was wondering if Buffalo, Penn, Temple, or Maryland will have any seats left like you said Pitt might.
