Applying to public OOS MD/Phd programs

Hi, I am going to apply to a few MD/PhD programs in OOS public schools. I know that for MD-only, all public schools are required to have an in-state preference when it comes to acceptances. I was wondering if this annoying rule also applies to the MD/PhD program?

Actually, just the opposite, at least for the Medical Scientist Training Programs. The med schools tend to "diversify" their MSTP class (looks good for the NIH, I suppose). Good luck!

All of the MSTP and non-MSTP MD/PhD programs I applied to and got accepted at were out of state for me. I found that for MD/PhD, the in-state rule does not apply at the far and vast majority of schools. They do not care what state is your home state. In fact, diversity is great, as JulyMorning mentioned.
