So I wont be applying until next summer for Fall 07 admissions, when, its seems, that there may be a few new schools to consider. I was wondering, for those of you who were the first classes at your school (GaPCOM, LECOM-FL, etc.)

1) Were you at all apprehensive to go to or apply to a new school?
2) Compared to more established schools or main campus schools, was admissions at all easier??

1) Was not apprehensive at all (I will be attending GA-PCOM) the reason being is that PCOM Philly is one of the most well respected of the DO schools. I know they would not put their name on the line if they weren't going to go all out 110%.They already had everything in place regarding the curriculum, all they had to do was clone it. If anything, they will prob. improve on things that are not efficient at Philly (if there are any).

2) Don't know if admissions was easier, I just know I got in! But they do say that they have the same standards as their mother school. Other people say otherwise. I guess you really couldn't know unless you took the GPA's and MCAT scores of our first class.

Hope that answered your questions. If you are looking to apply to a branch school, most certainly consider the rep., curriculum and student satisfaction at the mother school. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Anyone know if the new schools are accredited at this point? I'm wondering about Bradenton in that respect. Sounds like a good place to go.

i beleive the new schools don't recieve formal accredidation until they graduate their first class, at least that was what I was told during the bradenton interview.

The "new" schools or rather branch campuses have provisional accreditation until the first class graduates. VCOM is also under provisional accreditation as well.

The new schools are under provisional status until the first class graduates. However, ever year the accrediation panal visits the schools and checks them out and gives them an evaluation. You could ask the schools for the status of those visits. For example VCOM has gotten positve ratings each and every time and in fact this last visit we got 6 accomodations which is an amazing thing to have achieved. 👍 👍 So that is one way to check on how a new school is doing before they graduate that first class.
