Is anyone working on their app to UCONN due by 4/1? Am I the only slacker who still hasn't completed it yet?

I was complete in January. However, I'm not sure in what order applications are reviewed. I remember reading a post from last year by an applicant saying they handed in their application on the 4/1 deadline and received an invite to interview by the second week of April...ya never know!

I applied to Program B. I'm also applying to Drexel IMS, UMDNJ, and the UPenn special science program. Uconn is definitely my top choice though. It sounds like it won't take long to find out if we get interviews at Uconn or not, so good luck everyone!

I hope not! Do you think the fact that there were 2 medical school committee meetings cancelled will factor into when the post-bacc sutdents will hear back?

I'm not sure what the med school committee meetings would have to do with the postbac program. Aren't most postbac programs unrelated to the med school admissions process? I was actually refering to the earlier post of the applicant who submitted last year on 4/1 and got an invite the second week of april. I guess I'm a little anxious about knowing where and what I'll be doing in only 5 months from now.

As I understand, the UCONN med school committee is the same committee that decides the potential candidates for the post-bacc program. I'm pretty sure that person was an exception rather than the rule, but who knows, this whole process seems a bit random to me.

Same committee. It's Keat Sanford's gig. Dean of Admissions for med school and post-bac. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe those fortunate enough to be offered an interview will meet with him.

I was sent an e-mail regarding my app status (it is being reviewed), however I did inquire about it in a voice mail several weeks ago. Also, He may have sent me an e-mail because the Dean of students at my school had sent a letter explaing a program that I was involved in during my undergrad career (maybe he thought I was nervously sending in extra LORs 😉). I haven't heard anything else yet, good luck all 🙂

I was actually suprised to receive this e-mail. I hadn't inquired about my status. The only other e-mail I received came shortly after I turned everything in (late Feb), saying my application was complete. I was really hoping for a letter by now. At least I know they are looking at it. I figure you guys in CT or New England area will know something before me mainly b/c I'm in CO.

I was looking at the pre-allopathic section of SDN. Looks like several people who applied to UCONN SOM are still waiting to hear if they will be going to UCONN's med school this year. A few have called Dean Sanford, he said they are behind schedule and their mailout will be sometime in the first or second week in May. I think these are the waitlisted people, but regardless, I think we will hear something at the tail end of this. Unless of course any of you have already heard something. Anyone.....anyone.....anyone?

Here's a little info on my stats: 3.5 Overall gpa, 3.3 Science gpa, MCAT: 27.
Standard extracurriculars...Division III athlete, volunteer work, shadowing, lots of work in the Learning Center on campus, Senior Thesis Research, SMEP-UVA School of Medicine 2004.

The email that I got from the Dean said that they are trying to schedule interviews the week of May 16th so there's still plenty of time for you guys to get interview invites!! I applied to Program B in early Feb. and I'm a Georgia resident. Hope this helps!

I think they are a little behind schedule. The summer portion starts in mid-June, so hopefully there will be a quick decision after interviews are conducted.

I actually had to decline my interview to UConn, because I had to commit to a summer program at UNC-Chapel Hill (Medical Education Development Program). I was really interested in doing the program at UConn, but I couldn't give up the UNC program without knowing whether or not I would get accepted to the Minority B program at UConn. Sorry that I couldn't give you any feedback.
