So I plan on submitting my primary tomorrow (Sept 18 - yes its late, believe me I know), and I'm a little confused about the deadlines. Are the school deadlines listed here https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/deadlines/63142/amcas_deadlines.html for SUBMISSION of the application, or for VERIFICATION? It is not very clear about it in my opinion. Because I know that it takes 4-6 weeks for verification, so I would essentially be out of the running for schools that have an early-mid October deadline if it needs to be verified by the deadline.

Thanks!!

My friend last year applied in September. He was able to get multiple interviews but he had very strong GPA/MCAT but he lacked EC's and clinical experience. He did get accepted at 3 med schools 🙂

The school deadlines represent verification of your primary application.

Schools know that students have applied to the school as soon as you've submitted, but they don't receive all of the application data until after the verification date. After this date, they can download your application and review it.

Don't consider yourself out of the running yet. Submitting tomorrow would be cutting it close to the mid-October deadline of schools, but considering that application submissions have slowed over the last 2-3 weeks, you'll have a 3-4 week wait in front of you. My advice would be to submit to the schools with later deadlines (after mid-October), and then to add the mid-October schools if your application is verified on time.

Good idea, thanks for the advice & the response.
