I've seen similar posts on other forums, but none concerning optometry. 14 months ago I was convicted of misdemeanor DUI and am wondering how greatly this hurts my application. I am aware that this was a terrible decision, but if you are just planning on lecturing me, please refrain.

I recently graduated with a Biology major/Psych. minor with 3.6 GPA from a Big XII university, scored a 380 TS & 370 AA on my OAT, have research and shadowing experience, am involved in a number of organizations, and I am applying early next month for this coming year's cycle. This is the only violation on my record, and I plan on being up front as possible about it.

Any advice on my chances of acceptance? Knowledge of current students that got in with a similar conviction? Schools that may be more forgiving than others? If I should mention it in my personal statement? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This isn't the kind of thing that you want to rely on internet advice for. You really need to ask the schools that you are interested in applying so you can get the answer from the horse's mouth.

Thanks Gatorgirl. And I'm actually meeting with my advisor this week to discuss this and plan to call some admissions offices, but was hoping somebody on here might have or know somebody that has had first hand experience or knowledge concerning this matter.
