I heard from a friend that you can apply to optometry schools this cycle with GRE or DAT scores but that OAT scores are more favorable. Is this true?

Yes, that is true. I was accepted with a test other than the OAT., but I think OAT is preferred.

I applied with an MCAT score and was accepted. Currently a first year.

What test did you use if you don't mind me asking. I'm considering doing the same.
I used the PCAT. However, I would not recommend taking the PCAT just to avoid the OAT. I only did it because I was initially interested in pharmacy before I switched over to optometry.
