I think a big problem with my application for fall 2009 was that I was really, really, really, ungodly late. I basically submitted pharmcas app exactly for the deadline and I think that hurt me. I have learned my lesson and will definitely apply a lot earlier this application cycle

The thing is, I was wait listed at two schools, UB and St. John Fisher. I did not apply to other schools so if I don't get pulled off the wait list I will have to reapply for fall '10.

So anyone else applying while still on the wait list?

I am wondering when others in my situation are planning on applying and taking the pcat, if you need to take it. Obviously, I can do the ting like background, high school, courseowrk, etc just to get it done. But what about the pcat? I took the pcat in october 2006 so I need so retake it. Taking it in august and sending my app in early would be ideal, but I really do not want to take the test and pay the fee if I don't have to, so if I do not get in, then I will take it in october. Do you think that is too late? I know that it will take awhile for the scores to come in and for schools to consider my app.

I am also alternate listed at WesternU. I was told that the majority of the students were pulled off already. I'm still hoping that I am able to join the Class of 2013.

I have started on the PharmCAS application. I finished inputting all my grades, requested all my transcripts, and LOR's are being written as of right now. The only thing that I'm trying to get done is my personal statement(PS). It's going to take a bit longer because I'm redrafting a brand new one with more advancements (pharmacy technician program, license, etc...)

I am also signed up to take the PCAT in August. I will start studying once I finish my PS. (hopefully by the end of this week). Then I'll submit my PHarmCAs apps.

I applied early last year (around August) but PHarmCAs took forever to calculate my GPA. So, im being smart this year and applying early.

TIER 1 is where I want all my apps to be.

Me too, esp since my gpa is a little low (3.24 cumulative, ~2.9 science but will improve after fall 2009 grades are averaged in)
But the thing is I do not want to spend money on the pcat.
Though unlike you, I have no clue about the status of the wait list for either school. No one form either school on SDN has heard anything from the schools so I have no clue if I have a chance to get off the wait list or not.

Its definitely something to think about. Dont wait too long. I would call them and find out. If the waitlist isnt moving, you should go with plan b.

 look at the UB wait list thread. A lot of people saying something along the lines like "I emailed them and all I got was a generic email saying the wait list did not move WTF THERES NO MOVEMENT AHHH!!!!" (Yes, I am one of those people)

But I'll probably take the pcat in august. That will be my birthday present this year 😱

I also would like to know what you are doing for references. I REALLY do not want to make my references write me a LOR if they do not have to. I mean, if I was in their position I would not want to put a lot of time/effort into something that will not be used. That would mean all their time/effort was for nothing.
When exactly are you asking about them. I have already told my references that I might need a LOR but nothing serious yet. I am wondering if august is too late to ask them if I want to send it in sept/early oct.

I am getting 3 New LOR's for this application cycle. I told them that I am a re applicant and they told me that they are going to write one of the best LOR's for me. I have some awesome recommendations this round for Fall 2010.

I totally know how you feel about the waitlist not moving. I will cross my fingers and hope that I can still get in. But, waiting and being unsure is something I cannot do.

In being confident, I am looking forward to getting more letters for interviews this round. I applied to 8 schools and only one interview. Plus, its also still early in opening of the application process. You still have time to apply and still be successful! 😛
