Hey guys,
I am planning on applying in 2013 for a seat in a class of 2018. All of my application will be complete when AMCAS opens in May/June and I want to apply early. The only issue at this point is that I do not have an MCAT. I am currently preparing for the MCAT and plan on taking it in June or July (I'm in a very delicate place where I need to apply early but also need maximum time to study for the MCAT). So, my question iswould it be wise to apply without an MCAT score in the first round of submissions? or, am I shooting myself in the foot? . I am looking to apply DO and MD (I do not have a school specific list yet), but I would be happy being accepted to any medical school (not carib).
Here are my other stats:
Overall GPA- 3.93
non science 3.9
BCPM 3.97
My ECs include writing tutor (4 years), biology tutor(3 years), president of my school's pre-health society (lots of leadership here, 3 years), 1 year as a lab assistant to a professor in the chemistry department, 3 years as a peer mentor to incoming freshmen. One summer as a volunteer EMT-B for a local fire department (300 hours) and some good patient contact/life experience. 600 hours as an EMT for my school. Couple of scholarships and the CRC chemistry award. I am currently working on my senior thesis which I will likely get a poster presentation out of.....I have about 100 hours of shadowing in neuro/IM.
I am expecting that I will have a good PS and significant experiences. My LORs will be from science professors and probably one of my bosses for tutoring.
Is it possible to get secondaries without an MCAT? Is it possible to get interviews without an MCAT? I realize it mostly rests on the MCAT.
