The longest interview I had was 30 min. You can't survive that long without water? I don't think you should because it's distracting to the interviewer.
Why would a professional dentist become distracted by a water bottle?
I fidgeted with my hand once during an interview once while I was taking and I definately noticed my interviewer looked down at my hands briefly.
I completely understand the fidgeting of the hand scenario (because it happened to me as well). However, this is a different situation. In my opinion, if a person develops a dry throat during an interview, they should be able to drink out of a water bottle, because water is a necessity at that point. Lastly, I apologize if my last post sounded condescending/arrogant.
No water. Focus on the interviewer. You can't drink water in our operatories or in the OR. Get used to the pressure, it does not magically disappear. Interviewers will be my age, and expect a certain degree of decorum. Is water a major faux pas, probably not. Would I tolerate it at one of my interviews, probably. But I would make a note on the interview sheet about it, and it would make a difference. This is serious business, and my generation takes it seriously. Not the law, my two cents.
I guess it varies from one person to another. I have been offered a beverage at 2/3 schools that I have interviewed thus far. Needless to say, my interviewers were drinking their beverages as well.
Most schools will provide the interviewees with a beverage and lunch. But, by Gob, don't, don't, don't take a water bottle. That is incredibly tacky. You're not going to class or going for a jog. You're going to a very formal interview. An interview which will last maybe 30 minutes, max. Brave it out. Seek out a water fountain. Pop in a tic tac to induce saliva beforehand. But not a water bottle. And once again, they will provide you with a drink.

Or in the absence of tic tac a pacifier might be a good substitute.

Haha.
Since I don't see DrReo anywhere, I'll make the mandatory neophyte statement: NEOPHYTE!!!
Why don't you just bring in a bottle of your mother's breast milk?
b/c she quit pumping....anyway if it was just one 30 minute interview that is one thing, but it is three 45 minutes interviews. Its not that I cant handle a little dry mouth, but its ragweed season here. I cant breathe, my nose runs, and my throat dries out. I guess I wont bring a water, but i will definitely keep what they provide.

My last interview had water and paper cups available for the student during the interview. I would not bring a bottle in with me.
I've not had an interview yet but I can't see why this would be a no-no. people need water.... and at least it's not soda or coffee....
Pocket Flask. And if they make a face, wink and chuckle.
That actually made me laugh.
How bout a 6-pack of bud light? and don't be selfish, offer one to the interviewer.🙂

We are trying to show sophistication and maturity. I'm thinking Import.
