Sorry to bother u PD but another answer/advice is needed from you.

I am highly interested in this family med program I interviewed at. Currently, I am doing anesthesiology externship at a very respected place. My attending is the director of endoscopy anesthesia (so he holds some title). Anyways, I told him about this family medicine place where I am highly interested in doing my residency. So my attending offered to write a personalized letter to family medicine program director and recommending me to the program. The family medicine program and anesthesiology attending are from two different hospital and infact are in different states.
I just want to know if its ok for him to write a personalized letter to the PD of family medicine? Some people told me its a good idea and others have stated that this would be considered a violation since the documents are being sent outside of ERAS and this might make program get upset.
So what are your thoughts in this and would it be better if I were to confirm with the family medicine program director that one of my attending wants to send a recommendation letter and if its ok for him to do so.
Thank a lot for all the help and time!
