Do you know if ARCOM will have federal aid for its first class?
I don't think so. I think they are private, but don't quote me!

Edit: indeed it is "Private, not-for-profit"

I attended an information session a couple of weeks ago and the representatives from the school said that there shouldn't be any issues getting federal aid for the first class.

Sorry to revive thread, but did anyone figure this out? I have had no success in contacting admissions. Will they have federal aid for the first class? I don't see how they could...

They can't gain federal aid for the first OR second class. This is not a branch campus of any sort and it is not a public university medical school, so unless there is some loophole I am unaware of I believe they have to be fully-accredited before the federal government will recognize them for aid money.

I called and they said they should be eligible for federal aid by fall 2017.

I am interested to see how they are able to do this... it seems impossible unless they are affiliated with a well established university.

I'm interviewing there on Monday. I will report back on what the financial aid director says to us in person. I was also under the assumption that full accreditation was required for a completely new school.

They need provisional accreditation to receive financial aid.

Gotcha. That makes more sense because they expect their next milestone approval toward receiving accreditation to occur in Feb 2017.

No. Only For-Profit schools are ineligible to apply for federal aid for a minimum of two years.

Non-profit schools like ARCOM are eligible to apply for Title IV immediately so their first class may be able to receive aid. ACOM, another recently opened non-profit, received federal aid for its first class.

Hello,
I am wondering if you could tell me about the interview? was it multiple people, did you find it in your opinion to be more difficult or more laid back? Thank You!

It's laid back as hell. Try to relax and be normal and fun at the interview. The biggest mistake is everyone tries to give off this impressive persona on interviews instead of just being a relatable and normally functioning human being. Ask the faculty where they like to eat, where the fun areas are, what go-to spots to hit before you leave. Even if you have a flight leaving immediately, ask anyways. Remind them you're human and not a robot. Ask about what research they offer and how they got in their respective research field, it makes them giddy to talk about the things they love.

Also, early February they should be getting their school FAFSA code so they will be eligble for federal aid.

Hi, I got an interview with ARCOM. My first MCAT was 499. I am retaking Sept 19th and will receive my scores back October 10th. I am confident I will do better. Anyway, should I pick the earliest interview date or after I get my scores back? @Goro

Thank you for any and all advice. 🙂

Pick the earliest date, then update once you have your new scores.

I also received an interview invite here but I am currently in a grad program at VCOM. Should I pick the soonest date or wait until early December so my grades for the Fall will be available? I feel as though a solid fall semester will aid me but am aware of rolling admissions.

For you, I think that you'd be better served by going later and having the fall grades to show you can handle med school.

The answer that took me 4 years to figure out...

All non-profits can apply for loans from the get-go if the school applies. However, for-profits it takes 2 years for them to get it (unless they are under another institution that has graduated a class).
