Are all remaining interviews for alternate spots?

No, Pitt takes the second half of their class (~40 students) from post-dec interviews

No, it varies by school. I think Houston takes about half of its class from second round interviewers and people who didn't get accepted first round but that they're still interested in. Some schools do however give acceptances to a number equal to or greater than the class size they will have (For example SA gives 120 acceptances December 3).

Does anyone know if post-December interviews for UMDNJ are usually alternate spots?

While a good percentage of the class is filled by mid Jan, seats are still available....and no, theyre not necessarily for the waitlist. Its funny how leading up to acceptances, everyone guns for a certain school, says its their #1, and once they end up with multiple offers, all the sudden their #1 becomes their #2 or 3. Nothing wrong with having choices.
