Hi there! I was wondering if your chances of acceptance to MD/DO schools are higher in the state you're from or is there no difference? Thanks!

To public schools the answer is almost always yes. To private schools, the advantage is minimal to none.

Minimal to none? How come? Even if it's DO?

Thank you Goro, you're always very helpful :)

Public school receive state funds and therefore often have agreements to accept certain amounts of students. For example 90% of the classes in Texas schools need to be residents. Private schools receive no such funds and don't have to make the same agreement. There is obviously some selection bias with those still but they don't really treat IS vs OOS much differently.
