Are LOR's to secondaries what transcripts are to primaries?

Just wondering if it would be wise (and ok by med school policies) to send in your LORs before you've completed the secondary. After making a transcript request on 6/6 and not getting the receipt from amcas until today, I'm a bit paranoid about more avoidable delays along the rest of the process. Do LOR's tend to hold people up the way to transcripts do? Thanks in advance for any advice or info!

p.s. if you're using your school's letter service, do you put the letter service address for schools that want your recommenders' addresses?

YES. LORs are part of a complete secondary file. Request they be sent in early, even if you have not submitted the application part yet. That will give you more time to deal with and problems that may arise, aka "Well I thought I mailed it out. I remember putting it in the box...I think. Are you sure they didn't get it yet?"

So send in the LOR's as soon as you get your secondary?

I mean the minute you get your secondary from a particular school, send in the LORs to that school even before working on the essays?

Yes, if the school accepts them and you're sure you're going to send in the secondary. (UMichigan, for example, requests letters if they're considering you for an interview - they don't automatically want them with the secondary.)
