I was curious if someone who has taken the DAT before can shed some light if the MW of compounds are given, when asked a question about them. The common ones I've gotten familiar with by now (ie H2O = 18g/mole, C6H12O6 is 180g/mole).

It doesnt take much time to calculate anyway, but it does take a few seconds, so if the MWs are not given it would behoove me to start looking at the numbers of some of the more common ions, etc.

Also, does anyone know if we are allowed set up our PAT section during the tutorial section? I've heard that some people have been allowed and some haven't. Thanks

Depends on the question, from practice questions I've encountered, longer questions are given, easier less step questions need to be calculated.
Maybe someone who already took the DAT has a more accurate answer.

From what I have been told the periodic table is given but not always MW.

I have also heard the same thing with regards to the PAT, it would be best if you call the prometric center where you are taking the DAT and ask them.

Thanks for the help guys. I will call and let you know what my location says.

Also, Dr. Romano, I didn't want to make a new thread for this question so I hope you don't mind answering here. (PS- Did something happen to the Destroyer FAQ thread? I couldn't find it for some reason- odd)

In Destroyer 2015 BIO #450. The correct answer is E, and I agree with every part of it except for the word fetus in answer choice A. I thought that the fetus does not actually breath via lungs while in the womb, and it is actually the newborn infant that is allowed to breathe easier due to the surfactant. The answer solution doesnt mention anything about making it easier for the fetus to breathe, if you could clarify I would really appreciate it!
