I was hoping to see other peoples' opinions of where I stand. Just a little bit of info: I am a non-traditional student. I started undergrad all the way back in 2012 and took a hiatus for a few years while working various jobs. I am proud to announce though that in Spring 2020 I will receive my degree (finally). I will be getting a B.S in biology pre-health specializations.
Took the DAT today (didn't know what to expect because I had not taken any practice tests and just reviewed notes) and the breakdown is as follows:
Pat-19
QR-17
RC-21
GC-21
OC-20
Bio-23
TS:21
AA:20
As for undergrad, I have a cumulative 3.975 overall and 3.975 science GPA. The reason for undergrad taking so long was me dropping out for two years and then taking part-time classes while working full-time as a hospital pharmacy technician. I have hundreds of hours in volunteering for my high school's track team (2010-2015) and have been volunteering at an animal shelter since the beginning of this year. I have shadowed well over 150 hours with 5 dentists (one being a periodontist). I am applying for the year of 2020, and so far have listed Ohio State, VCU, Louisville, and Lake Erie College.
The reason I want to become a dentist is that I was born with a genetic disease called amelogenesis imperfecta. All my teeth have had to be crowned due to me having no enamel. Picking this career would bring me satisfaction knowing that I will be giving others the excellent care that was given to me. Would you say my chances are good for these schools? Should I list some others?
