I got a C- my first semester of school in Gen Chem 1. I then got a B- in Gen Chem 2. Will I be able to apply to dental school with a C- or does it have to be a C???

You should check the websites, but I'm fairly certain most dental schools would say C-minuses do NOT count toward "passing" the prerequisite. Even if it's passable to get your degree (because it's not a D), you need a C. Many colleges don't offer C-minuses for this reason.

For my program a C- isn’t passing, I think the reason is because that’s below a passing grade for the dental school I go to. I would certainly look at each school specifically though.

Okay well now Im panicking, I just graduated and I thought since I was able to pass the class at my undergrad school with a C-, it wouldn't be a problem for dental school admissions. I was hoping to apply at the end of August this year...any recommendations as to what I should do?

I assume it’s too late to take a summer class? You could enroll this coming semester to retake the class. Let the schools you apply to know that you are retaking it. Then your acceptance would depend on completing that class.

I haven't applied anywhere yet, I plan on applying end of this month

You should talk with them before you send your money to them unless you're not concerned about possibly wasting your money.

schools are pretty busy now with getting in the new D1s and working on interviews for this cycle...
