iamgoaloriented said:On average we are above average students (if you look at the average gpa's and mcat scores from the student profiles you will see they are usually above average for the schools you look at).
The one thing we seemingly universally have in common is that we are to at least to some extent nerds (you dont have to be brilliant to be a nerd though). Im not as obsessive as I once was and am now pretty laid back, but I am still definitely a nerd.

iamgoaloriented said:Can you honestly say that, although you are posting on a pre med forum at 2:30AM, that you are not a nerd? Dony deny it, just embrase it.

stoic said:yup... we love it here b/c we can be nerdy, obsessed premeds and not feel out of place.
i mean... i've been posting here for 4 years... talk about being a loser....
blz said:I'm sure most people that browse SDN are the typical premed student. However, the SDNers that post reguarly on this site are most likely overachievers since they have something to brag about.
TheProwler said:Just think about it. Who would honestly look for an internet forum for their career goals? I doubt that there's a huge pre-law forum or a huge education majors forum (maybe though). Definitely overachievers, which is why MDApplicants averages are always higher than the official numbers.
but of this size? links, pleasePsycho Doctor said:don't kid yourself...there are definitely pre-law forums and I'd bet there's also education ones, business ones, etc
lol I 2nd this. 🙂dr.z said:I don't think SDN represents majority of medschool application. Most of them are overachievers. I'm not one of them.
And this is a sad part because I really think that people concentrate too much on OTHER people rather than themselves. Everyone is important in some way or another and every person has their own unique traits that they bring to the table. Comparing yourself to others ... that isn't worth it. This is coming from someone who graduated with a 2.3 GPA. 😉 I think its only those who POST their GPA that she's looking at. Not everyone is honest because they are intimidated. SDN is a GREAT resource and I think this whole comparison thing has to stop. You have to learn to be comfortable with yourself ... that is one of the most important things to do in this life. Because once you've achieved that, nothing is impossible.neuropower said:my friend who has low scores/gpa refuses to look at sdn or mdapplicants because it depresses her, much less post her stats!
Sure there is... http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org is just as bad as we are, believe me. But yeah, in general, people who seek out and post on forums for their future professional interest are going to be the overachievers.TheProwler said:Just think about it. Seeking out all the information necessary to achieve. Hence, overachievers. I hate that word though ... want about the phrase "striving to be the best I can be?"aparecida said:Sure there is... http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org is just as bad as we are, believe me.
