I have made good scores on the practice exams.

Some people say they are easier than the MCAT and others harder.

Anyone know from experience?

*jcutts,

Did you write or edit any of the earlier versions? The reputation of Barron's MCAT material has been hurt by years of putting out very poor material. If you are a change to a new phase, that would be great to have some more material out there.

I will say that I am disappoitned by Barron's efforts to deceive students on Amazon. 8 of the first 11 4 or 5 star posts are by first time reviewers, one of the eight is self-admittedly by an editor (which is not a review at all). All of which were put up within a span of less than a month. I think you should talk to your company jcutts, this alone is enough for me to not want to support a company like that.

I second 100% of what chemhead123 said.

I believe we all LOVE to have MORE legit material to use. But please prove to us in SDN that Barron is the real deal from now on 🙂

I can imagine thousands of SDNers will jump to Barron if it becomes a proven GOOD stuff. We want results and not empty advertisement.

Yeah, in fact, Jcutts since you're the author of the last Barron's MCAT book could you perhaps tackle a subject I have found all the the other major test preps (and I'm using 3 of them) to be lacking on? : dielectric constants!

Part of what has convinced me that Berkeley Review & Kaplan is good, is one their instructors/writers have consistently provided phenomenal answers. You don't have to, of course, but if you'd like to demonstrate some teaching, please do!

So I am clear on the basics of dielectric constants. The dipole moment of a polar dielectric will induce an electric field in an opposite direction to the field created by the capacitance plates. Basically, a dielectric reduces the effective electric field between the two capacitor plates. Why does the source then need to supply more charge to maintain this reduced effective electric field? ( This added charge supplies = capacitor can "hold" more charge )

Thanks in advance, Jcutts. Also, I'd love to see you in the MCAT SDN q&a forum!:welcome:

The exams are generally thought to be unrealistic. They weren't anything like what I had on my MCAT. Any practice is better than doing nothing, but there are plenty of better exams out there. AAMC should be your first priority.

I love how Jcutts is jumping around the forum posting essentially the same message in different threads (at what point is it considered spam?)...and yet I wonder if he even wants to demonstrate his explanation skills as I asked in this thread...hmmm. 🙄
