You're begging the question and I have to ask, what are your parameters? Let me put it this way, in terms of the average medical school application cycle, which has 37,613 applicants adjusted for the revised tax base per annum so to speak, it is 379 below the mean gross poverty level per se, as it were. QED. This is in reference to Dr. Hovel T. Moon's study for the Buford Commission published on May 9, 2002. Didn't anyone read this?

Although the number of applicants may be increasing, so will the number of seats.

AAMC wants medical schools to increase enrollment by 15% by year 2015.

To the OP, what does it matter if more people are applying or not? This is something you cannot control. More people applying doesn't necessarily mean better or worse applicants. From our point of view, we can't see what it means.
