After visiting a few of the TYs that have traditionally been considered very cush, I am pretty disappointed. It seems like all of them are increasing the number of inpatient months, decreasing the number of true electives and cracking down on residents who disappear during electives.
I know most TYs > any prelim program but, like Carilion clinic, seems that the glory days of month-long vacations are gone. Maybe I'm just bummed cause I'm actually going to have to do work next year.
It's hard to figure out too cause residencies change from year to year and it seems like taboo to talk about how "easy" it is with the residents - like they're going to turn me in for asking about the same thing they were looking for a year ago. Am I the only one that wants to do as little as possible next year?
