Are these normal ortho hand surgeon hours?

The man in the above article claims to have been an attending for two years, and works 730-4 or 5 depending on whether it’s a clinic or surgery day. He takes 6 days of call per month.

Are these hours typical for a hand surgeon after fellowship? Ive heard of orthos who work these hours, but is it possible to work these hours so soon after fellowship?

If you’re in private practice yes. But you eat what you kill. So they’re probably not making as much.
Agreed. Or if you have an established name in the community, passive income from patents/surgical center...7-5pm is very realistic, our senior partners certainly see that. Of course they don't make money taking call, so income drops for them but they're already established in the community, with strong referral patterns for private payor insurance patients. etc.
