Sure seems that way to me. What it cost for 4 years at a tx med school is sometimes less than 1 year anywhere else. Glad I'm a tx resident😀

You lucky bastards. I wish I were a Texas resident.

Nod, I believe the Texas schools have the cheapest instate tuition of all the states (Correct me if I'm wrong). Baylor: a private school with Texas tuition. 👍

I wish I was Texan. I can say ya'all, does that count?
Damn SUNYs at 19k....

I am a Texas resident also but it depends on how you look at things. There is 1 state school cheaper than those in TX. I forget which state it is; however, Texas does have 8 medical schools that do come in close 2nd.

yeah texas! all four years of med school cheaper than one year of my overpriced undergrad... holla! :horns:

I think there are a few med schools in different states under $6550 a year, but to have an entire state's worth of schools at that price (7 schools I think in total) is unheard of elsewhere. Then again, having 6 state + 1 private medical school in one state is almost unheard of as well (except in Cali and NY)

Based on Texas law, if you are a non-resident who receives a $1000 scholarship, you get out of state tuition waived and you pay resident tuition. As a Texas whose parents moved out of state after high school graduation, I took advantage of this in college, and will in medical school too. At Southwestern, they automatically grant all out-of-state students a 1000 scholarship. Other schools may or may not do this. The Texas bargain can be extended to non-Texans as well.

when do u find out if you are getting a scholarship?

ECU's Brody School of Medicine costs $4928.60 per year for tuition and fees, making it the least expensive medical education in the country. But, they only accept in-state applicants!

Yep, it's dirt cheap.

However, the class size is around 75 people and many of those are reapplicants.

You really, really have to show you want to practice primary care in eastern NC to go there.

That being said, I suggest you PM SweetTea to see how she got accepted there.
🙂

I did get accepted there!! But only as a second-time applicant.
