Are you allowed to write stuff before CS case starts?

I keep hearing ppl say write down mnemonic once you see the door information when case starts.
My question is can you write that stuff down before the case starts?? (ie if you got a minute of extra time from the previous case after writing notes)

No you get into trouble if you do that. I almost accidentally did that a number of times. The girl next to me did it accidentally once and they took that blue sheet away and gave her a "warning" ...whatever that means.
 
Same here. Dude got his blue sheet taken away and also given a warning. Then he later kept typing after time expired and they said the next violation would get him kicked out.

Write only once the clock starts and not one second sooner. I usually jotted a quick ddx along with obvious systems to examine and some personal reminders.
