Hear me out first....i'm coming up with a theory that most people who want to be physicians or are already physicians.....are crazy.

Think about it for a second....you willingly agree to go through an extra 4 years of school in which every science course you completed in college is pretty much summed up in a semester. After going through that grueling process, you willingly agree to work for the next 3-9 years at minimal pay. Not only that, but you pretty much work a minimum of 80 hours a week...which means you have no life except wake-up, work, sleep, repeat. It is only then in which you can fully work as a (hopefully) liscenced doctor. So you work in a hospital, clinic, private practice, etc. and you are trying to buy a home....."i'm sorry we can't give you any money because you owe this bank 1 gajillion dollars in loans....which doesn't include the 13% interest rate...have a nice day." 👍 👍 👍

Any thoughts or comments??? 😉

I'm not a troll, it just seems that the doctors that i've met and spoken to are a little....lets say quirky....thats a nice way to put it. And dont worry, i'm putting myself through this process as well 😀 😀 😀

Let's not forget to add that once you are finally done, the government dictates (by varying degrees) how much you make... doesn't sound all the capitalistic to me, ha!

I'm already doing this, won't mind furthering my education, it's really not that bad.

Not to sound like an dingus, but if you are reconsidering your career choice as a physician because of salary and/or work hours, you need to quit. Maybe I'm being too idealistic, but I don't think that most people go into medicine for the financial or workload aspects of it.

Not to sound like an dingus - fart, just don't forget, right behind every med student's/resident's look-at-what-a-selfless-and-downtrodden-angel-I-am facade is a six figure pay check. Besides, even as a doctor, if you have an entrepreneurial spirit you can get as rich as you want. I'm looking at medicine as a sweet and rewarding career that pays well, but if I really want to get lice-infested, dirty-filthy rich I'm not going to rely only on medicine.

Besides, don't you have to wait until residency to get as self-righteous as you are about how much work you (will) do with such little (not really) compensation. Also remember, in medicine, a decent salary is pretty much a sure thing.

I totally agree. And if you weren't crazy when you started you will be crazy by the time you get through this meat grinder. 😱

Lets define "crazy" as not being normal.

THen what is normal??

If a normal life is:

Being raised by loving parentS (1 mom, 1 dad), getting a good hs education (with all those EC activities), going to college, joining the workforce, getting married, buying that house, gettin into debt to keep up with the Gates, having 1.3 children, pursuing the American dream and then retire (hopefully at 65),

then I dont want that. I want my life to go beyond that. I want to take the red pill!!!

So if that means that Im crazy, so be it!!

However, Im not sure how insane I am, that depends on the eye of the beholder.
